Exhibition at Dunraven School

The first stage of this amazing project is complete. Students from Dunraven School had an intense creative experience working all day for 4 days with artist Jane Churchill to produce their response to what they had learnt about the heritage of the spectacles which were designed and made for conscripts in WW1. They also learned about glass eyes and prosthetics which were made out on latex to make it easier from those with devastating facial injuries to go out in public. They thought about the horrors soldiers could not help but see compared to the images of home and loved ones which were so clear in their minds. The students' art work expressed many emotions so subtly using the new techniques which Jane shared with them. Many parents at the exhibition in school thought that it was the work of post 16 students.
